Cupcakes that will make your tastebuds happy

No party is complete without some sort of sweet indulgence. No matter what type of delectable dessert you fancy, cupcakes can be a classy addition to your party theme. Plus, your guests will love nibbling on their own personal miniaturized cake.

We've previously given you the list of our five favorite cookie bakers. Today we're focusing on our five favorite cupcakeries.

Now cupcakes aren't as easy to ship as cookies, so you'll have to indulge on the talents of these bakeries when you visit the cities they hail from (unless, of course, you're lucky enough to live near one of them). But if you're ever in the area, we know you won't be disappointed if you take the time to stop in for a sweet treat. We always do!

If you're in the Los Angeles area, make sure you bite into a mouthwatering cupcake baked by Viva Los Cupcakes.

They're awesomely unique because Karina Jimenez, the owner, bakes her Mexican heritage into every cupcake she makes. Where else are you going to find cupcake flavors like tamal con mole, horchata, margarita, fresa con crema, and churro con cajeta (just to name a few)?

These cupcakes ignite our love for Mexican food and make us nostalgic for our favorite childhood treats. Our absolute favorite is her tamal con mole. Just talking about it makes us want to hop in the car for a day trip to LA!

Insider tip: You'll only find Viva Los Cupcakes on the weekends at their pop-up events. Be sure to follow them on Instagram or Facebook to find out where they'll be each Saturday and Sunday.

Frosted Frenzy Cupcakes

If you're in the Phoenix area like us, check out Frosted Frenzy Cupcakes. They've got a food truck that travels the Valley of the Sun selling their gourmet cupcakes. You can also preorder and have cupcakes delivered to you in the metro Phoenix area.

The owners, Tami and Candy, make their cupcakes from scratch using high quality ingredients, which you can taste in every bite. Our favorite? The drumstick. Yes, they've crafted a super delicious cupcake that tastes just like those ice cream treats we savored as kids. Yum!

Insider tip: If you're planning a first birthday party and need a smash cake, check out their smash cupcakes. They're about three times larger than a regular cupcake, plus you can customize them to match your party theme.

Trophy Cupcakes

Trophy Cupcakes are well known in the greater Seattle area. Stop by any of their five locations to take your tastebuds on a journey they won't soon forget. You can also preorder cupcakes online and either pick them up or have them delivered to your door.

What do we love about them? Their cupcake flavor menu rotates each day, giving you the opportunity to indulge your inner child with a different flavor every day of the week. They also offer gluten-free options that taste just as amazing as their gluten-filled counterparts.

Our favorite of their cupcake flavors is yumfetti. If you could turn a cupcake into a party, yumfetti would definitely take the cake.

Insider tip: If you're planning a party, they offer a host of predesigned themed cupcakes from which to select. But if you want a truly custom experience, contact them about custom cupcakes, which can include printed edible themed toppers or custom graphics and text. They do weddings too!

Kara’s Cupcakes

If you live or are visiting anywhere in the San Francisco Bay area, you must treat yourself to a cupcake from Kara's Cupcakes. Their nine locations, which span from Napa to Monterey, were born out of executive pastry chef Kara Haspel Lind's love for sweets and passion for baking. (If you didn't already recognize her name, Kara was a finalist on Cupcake Wars.)

We love Kara's Cupcakes because they use locally sourced ingredients, organic whenever possible, and their bakeries meet green certification standards. They also offer gluten-free options.

And their cupcakes are absolutely divine! If you love chocolate and caramel as much as we do, try their fleur de sel cupcake. Oh, and if you're visiting and can't make it to one of their locations before you fly out, stop by and grab one of their cupcakes from Napa Farms Market in terminal two of San Fransisco International Airport.

Insider tip: If you're looking for a super unique party idea, no matter what type of party you're hosting (adult or child), check out their cupcake-decorating party options. You can host your party at their store or in your home.

Misha’s Cupcakes

Misha's Cupcakes is Miami’s original cupcakery, started in 2005 by Misha Kuryla. With eight locations, including one at Florida International University and another at Miami International Airport, you have no reason not to take a break and nibble on a bite of bliss.

Our favorite flavor is their guava cream cheese. It's injected with a homemade guava puree and topped with guava cream cheese frosting. Truly delectable!

Planning a little one's birthday party? Be sure to check out their options for cupcake parties for kids. You can also order their cupcakes online and either pick them up in store or have them delivered to your party venue.

Insider tip: They offer custom message boxes in which the cupcakes spell out whatever message you want to relay. What a great way to reveal a baby's gender, tell someone you love them, or even propose!
